Miss Tech Contestants Finish Preparation with Rehearsal

The Miss Arkansas Tech Pageant is tomorrow, and the 15 contestants will finish pageant preparations with a rehearsal tonight in Witherspoon Auditorium.

During the past two weeks, the young women have participated in a relaxing spa party, a modelling lesson and mock interviews to help them prepare for the pageant.

Tonight, the ladies with run through the pageant program, learn modelling formations for the various phases of competition, take a group photo and rehearse their talent.

Dr. Jim Collins, pageant executive director, said the practice interviews help put the contestants at ease on the day of the pageant, like a rehearsal for interview.  He adds, “There are always several contestants who have never competed in a pageant, and having a mock interview helps them to understand what to expect during the interview.” The private interviews begin tomorrow morning.

Collins says during tonight’s rehearsal, the contestants will walk through each portion of the pageant, and each girl will also be able to practice her talent twice.

The pageant begins tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in the Witherspoon Building Auditorium. Admission is $10 for the public and free for those with a valid Tech ID.

The winner of the pageant will receive a two-semester tuition scholarship to Arkansas Tech and more than $3,000 in gift certificates and prizes from area businesses.  In all, more than $16,000 in gifts and scholarships will be awarded to contestants competing in the pageant.
