Miss Arkansas Pageant Next Week

Three young ladies from Arkansas Tech will be arriving in Hot Springs this weekend to vie for the coveted title of Miss Arkansas.

The official Miss Arkansas arrival ceremony will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

Contestants will then begin attending rehearsals and making appearances throughout the week. Competition begins with private interviews on Tuesday, July 11 and continues with on-stage preliminary competition Wednesday through Friday. The finals are Saturday, July 16.

Each of the three competition groups will be equally represented by delegates from Arkansas Tech University. The placements were chosen respectively by each girl at the Miss Arkansas Contestant Fashion Show, Meeting, and Lottery held in May.

Brandi Cromer, Miss Tech, will represent Arkansas Tech in Group A. She will present a vocal performance for the talent competition on Wednesday, compete in swimsuit on Thursday and evening gown on Friday.

Savanna Knight, Miss Western Arkansas, will compete in Group B. She will be competing in evening gown on Wednesday, present a tap dance for talent on Thursday and compete in swimsuit on Friday.

Lindsey Ahrens, Miss Ozark Highlands, chose per placement in Group C. She will start the week with swimsuit on Wednesday, evening gown on Thursday and will be honoring our veterans by singing “God Bless America” on Friday.

During the three nights of preliminary competition, each of the 46 contestants will be featured in several production numbers throughout the show.

The top 15 will be announced on Saturday night and the top 10 will compete in swimsuit, talent and evening gown. The evening will culminate with the crowning of a new Miss Arkansas.

The winner of the Tony Bowles/Mon Cheri People’s Choice Award will also be announced Saturday. Each of the girls participated in a photo shoot with designer Tony Bowls. Those photos are posted here.

The public may vote on their favorite contestant. Each vote costs one dollar and proceeds benefit scholarships.

For people interested in attending the pageant, tickets will be available for purchase at the Summit Arena box office. Tickets for the nightly preliminary competitions are $25 each and tickets to the finals and crowning on Saturday are $35.

Miss Arkansas is an official preliminary to the Miss America pageant. The current Miss Arkansas is Alyse Eady from Fort Smith, who placed first runner up at the Miss America Pageant in January.
