Microsoft Office 2007 Training Offered at Lake Point

The first of 10 Microsoft Office 2007 application training courses for the Russellville Industry Council was held today at Lake Point Conference Center.

The program is a partnered effort of the Professional Development Institute and Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus. The ten Microsoft Office courses will be offered beginning this month and ending in May 2011. Course material will include Word, Excel and Outlook.

This new program is funded by a grant provided by the Arkansas Incumbent Worker Training Program (AWTP) under the federal Workforce Investment Act.

The purpose of the Workforce Investment Act is to increase employee productivity and company growth by funding innovative training to benefit the skill development of incumbent workers.

Training in portable skills results in a more highly skilled and versatile workforce that contributes to Arkansas’ ability to attract new business and creates an environment conducive to expansion.

Director of the Professional Development Institute Jeff Aulgur recognizes the uniqueness of this course.   “The Arkansas Incumbent Worker Training program is an excellent example of a private-public partnership for the betterment of the workforce and the community.”

The Professional Development Institute at Arkansas Tech University specializes in “just-in-time” customized training to prepare individuals, industries and organizations to compete in the new economy.
