Men's Basketball to Host Golf Tournament

Arkansas Tech University head men’s basketball coach Doug Karleskint has announced that the seventh annual Wonder Boys Basketball Golf Tournament is set for Friday, Sept. 7, at Russellville Country Club.

Entry fee for the three-person scramble is $300 per team. There will be a silent auction and lunch at 11:30 a.m.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Arkansas Tech has made four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament for men’s basketball. The Wonder Boys have amassed 104 wins, three regular season conference championships and three conference tournament titles since the beginning of the 2008-09 season.

Last year, Arkansas Tech’s men finished 26-6 overall, won the Great American Conference regular season championship, added the GAC Tournament title and then reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time.

“We are proud of the student-athletes in our program and the way they represent Arkansas Tech on and off the court,” said Karleskint, who has an overall record of 51-12 in two seasons as Wonder Boys head coach. “Our annual fund-raising golf tournament provides us with the resources necessary to achieve our goal of competing in NCAA Division II on a national level. We look forward to seeing many of our friends and supporters at Russellville Country Club on Sept. 7.”

In addition to participating in the tournament, boosters can also support the event by registering as a hole sponsor for $200 or by donating items for the silent auction.
