Men's Basketball to Host Golf Outing Sept. 24

Arkansas Tech fans can lend their support to the Wonder Boys basketball program on Friday, Sept. 24, when head coach Doug Karleskint hosts the program’s annual fund-raising golf tournament at Russellville Country Club.

Cost for entering the tournament is $400 for a four-person team. The entry fee includes lunch, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

To sign up for the event or for more information, call (479) 968-0365.

This is the fifth consecutive year that the Arkansas Tech men’s basketball program has hosted a fund-raising golf tournament.

The Wonder Boys are two-time defending Gulf South Conference champions, and they reached the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2009 and 2010.

Tech attained its first-ever No. 1 national ranking in men’s basketball during the 2009-10 season. The Wonder Boys completed last season 30-2 overall and they won the GSC West Division regular season title for the first time.

“The tourmament will give me, my new staff and all of our players the opportunity to spend time with and get to know our supporters,” said Karleskint, who was promoted to head coach in April after serving as Tech’s top assistant coach in 2009-10. “The revenue from this tournament will help us with the rising costs of team travel, meals and housing during the holidays and the purchase of equipment that we need to reach the highest level.”

In addition to participating in the tournament, individuals and companies can take advantage of hole sponsorship opportunities.
