Arkansas Tech University is hosting a concert tonight with special guest Matt Tropman accompanied by Dr. Tim Smith on the piano.
The free concert will be in Witherspoon Auditorium beginning at 7:30 pm and the public is invited to attend.
Matt Tropman will play tuba and euphonium. He currently serves as the instructor of tuba and euphonium at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
Before moving to California, Tropman was the low brass instructor at Eastern Michigan University and the Executive Director of the Brass Band of Battle Creek.
As a former member of the U.S. Marine Band (President’s Own) Trapman performed frequently at The White House, as a soloist in the DC area and throughout the U.S.
Dr. Smith is a professor at Arkansas specializing in piano and music theory. He has a great deal of experience performing and providing accompaniment during recitals.
Among his accolades, Smith released a cd, “Collage,” has been the official pianist for the D’Angelo Competition in Strings at Mercyhurst College and recorded the Suzuki cello repertoire with renowned cellist Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.
