Tanner Marsh’s historic performance for the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys in their win over Southwestern Oklahoma State has been rewarded with a Great American Conference co-offensive player of the week award.

Marsh completed 25-of-37 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-37 Tech victory at Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. He also caught the go-ahead touchdown pass from wide receiver Jonathan Keener on a trick play with 3:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

A senior from Carrollton, Texas, Marsh joined Nick Graziano as the only Arkansas Tech quarterbacks to ever pass for 400 or more yards in a game. Graziano, who finished third in the voting for NCAA Division II player of the year in 2009, topped the 400-yard passing mark in six games that season.

Marsh’s 424 yards against SWOSU represents the fifth-highest single-game passing total by an individual in Wonder Boy history.

For the season, Marsh has completed 61 percent of his pass attempts for 1,920 yards and 12 touchdowns. He needs 80 passing yards to become the eighth Wonder Boy quarterback to ever throw for 2,000 or more yards in a single season.

Marsh ranks 13th in NCAA Division II in total offense (321.6 yards per game) for the 2012 season.

The other co-GAC offensive players of the week for games played on Oct. 13 were Henderson State quarterback Kevin Rodgers and Ouachita Baptist running back Chris Rycraw.

The Wonder Boys (4-3 overall, 2-2 Great American Conference) will host the University of Arkansas at Monticello (1-6, 0-5) for a 2 p.m. GAC contest at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field in Russellville on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Party at the Plaza, the pre-game tailgating celebration outside the stadium on Centennial Plaza, will begin at noon. Game tickets will be available at the stadium ticket office. Those with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card will be admitted free of charge.
