Logan Moore Named Miss Tech

Arkansas Tech freshman Logan Moore is the 2014 Miss Arkansas Tech University.  Moore is from Van Buren, and her parents are Laura and Zane Moore. She won the title during the annual pageant at Witherspoon Auditorium Friday evening. Moore was selected from a field of 22 contestants to win the Miss Tech crown.  Her critical issue is Tables Without Plates, which is focused on hunger awareness. "I got the idea for my platform when I went on a mission trip to New York," said Moore. "While there, we worked with food banks, and I really realized all that can be done to help prevent hunger." For her talent, Moore offered a flute solo to "Phantom of the Opera." Moore said she is excited to be crowned the 2014 Miss Tech and is looking forward to opportunity to serve as a representative of the university. “I absolutely love Arkansas Tech and everything this university represents," said Moore. "To serve as Miss Tech is such an honor." In addition to winning the Miss Tech crown, Moore was named the swimsuit winner and tied for the overall interview. Others placing in the pageant included:

  • 1st Runner Up– Leah Cleaver
  • 2nd Runner Up– Shelby Holland
  • 3rd Runner Up– Haven Brock
  • 4th Runner Up– Tiffany Squires
Other awards presented during the pageant included:
  • CenturyLink Interview Award– Shelby Holland and Logan Moore
  • Nona Dirksmeyer Talent Award– Sarah Hughey
  • Miss Congeniality– Tabitha Taylor
  • Lindsey Ahrens Vocal Winner– Sarah Hughey
  • Virginia Bachman Scholastic Achievement– Rebecca Hendrix
  • Sandi Hodges Dance Award– Lauren Murphy
With the crown, Moore will receive a two-semester tuition scholarship to Arkansas Tech, and she also receives more than $3,000 in gift certificates from area businesses.  In all, more than $25,000 in gifts and scholarships were awarded to those taking part in the pageant.
