Colt Loehrs’ two-out solo home run to center field in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys a 10-9 victory over nationally 13th-ranked Southern Indiana at Tech Field in Russellville on Sunday.
Loehrs’ third home run of the season capped a weekend that saw the Wonder Boys (5-4) win 2-of-3 games.
Tech dropped an 8-4 decision to Fort Hays State on Saturday, but the Wonder Boys came back to defeat Fort Hays State 12-7 on Sunday before knocking off Southern Indiana.
Josh Riley went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in during Tech’s victory over Fort Hays State on Sunday. Loehrs was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in that win.
Danny Parker (2-0) worked five and one-third innings against Fort Hays State to earn the win on the mound. He allowed seven runs on nine hits while striking out three.
Riley was 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in the nightcap. Tech’s Nick Makris had a personal season-high three hits in the Southern Indiana game. He drove in two runs against SIU, as did Madison Beaird and Loehrs.
Ted Nanez (1-0) pitched four innings of relief for Arkansas Tech in the nightcap. He was credited with the win.
The Wonder Boys will return to action on Friday, Feb. 25, with a neutral site doubleheader against New Mexico Highlands. The twin bill will be played in Emporia, Kan.
