The Echoes of the Arkansas River Valley series at Arkansas Tech University’s Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center will conclude on Thursday, Oct. 25, with a demonstration of hand piecing and quilting by local artisans entitled “Stitches in Time.”
Hands-on instruction in traditional Ozark methods will be provided and all supplies will be furnished during the event, which will last from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center room 300B.
Admission will be free and open to the public.
Area quilters will demonstrate English paper piecing to create a single flower in the tradition of a “Grandmother’s Flower Garden” quilt. A step-by-step lesson will be presented in small groups so that each person will be able to learn the process and will be able to complete a flower of their own. A square of plain fabric will be distributed to each person to learn how to sew the flower onto it.
Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center is located at 305 West Q Street in Russellville.
