Live Blog: 2013 Miss Tech Pageant

A total of twenty-one Arkansas Tech University students will compete this evening for the title of Miss Arkansas Tech University and the chance to compete in the Miss Arkansas pageant.

In addition to winning the crown, the 2013 Miss Tech will receive a two-semester tuition scholarship to Tech and several thousand dollars in prizes.

9:34 p.m.– Miss Tech Claire Hodgson is performing her final song.
9:32 p.m.– Miss Tech Claire Hodgson is giving her farewell dress.
9:27 p.m.– Q Street Jazz is performing another piece.
9:25 p.m.– Miss Tech Claire Hodgson and Tech Idol Katie are performing.
9:23 p.m.– The Delta Zeta sorority, which sponsors the pageant, is recognizing Dr. Jim Collins.
9:21 p.m.– Miss Arkansas Sloane Roberts is tapping.
9:18 p.m.– Dr. Collins is recognizing the visiting queens in the audience.
9:17 p.m.– All phases of the competition are complete.  It’s up to the judges now.
9:01 p.m.– It’s time for the evening wear competition.
8:58 p.m.– Q Street Jazz is entertaining the audience with a jazz number.
8:55 p.m.– Intermission is almost over, and the competition will be underway again.
8:45 p.m.– It’s intermission in Russellville.  We’ll be back in 10 minutes.
8:43 p.m.– Haven Brock is offering a speed painting performance.
8:41 p.m.– Tabitha Taylor is singing “This Girl is on Fire.”
8:37 p.m.– Hannah Sturch is singing “Taylor the Latte Boy.”
8:35 p.m.–  The next contestant is Emily Patton, and she is singing “Coming Home.”
8:33 p.m.–  Danielle Lee is singing and signing to “Wonderful Savior.”
8:30 p.m.– Dancing to “Release Me” is Trinity Phillips.
8:28 p.m.– Paige Montgomery is taking the stage.  She’s singing “Another Dumb Blonde.”
8:26 p.m.– Katie Morgan is performing a lyrical dance to “My Heart Will Go On.”
8:24 p.m.– Kristen Hayes is performing an Irish step dance.
8:20 p.m.– Now taking the stage is Christin Beggs for a piano performance of “Amazing Grace.”
8:18 p.m.– Kristina Sykes is singing “If I Ain’t Got You.”
8:15 p.m.– Tiffany Squires is performing a jazz routine to “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
8:12 p.m.– Chelsea Wilson is performing a trumpet solo to “My Heart Will Go On.”
8:09 p.m.– Up next is a vocal performance of “Inside Your Heaven” by Katelyn Friday.
8:06 p.m.– Nikki Roberts is performing a speed painting performance.
8:04 p.m.– Breahna McCool is performing a pom dance to “Shake It”
8:02 p.m.– Shelby Holland is singing “Light on a Clear Blue Morning.”
7:58 p.m.– Samantha Reeves is performing a clarinet solo of “Amazing Grace.”
7:56 p.m.– Alisha Sears is singing “Don’t Rain on my Rain Parade.”
7:55 p.m.– Jessica Pate is performing a dance to “Something’s Got a Hold of Me.”
7:52 p.m.– Skylar Cox is offering a performance art piece.
7:51 p.m.–  The talent competition is beginning.  It’s 35% of the score.
7:45 p.m.– Swimsuit is complete.  Miss Tech Claire Hodgson is performing
7:36 p.m.– The swimsuit phase is underway.  This phase accounts for 15% of the score.
7:35 p.m.– Dr. Collins is recognizing the parents and grandparents of the contestants.
7:33 p.m.– Lots of cheers for Miss Arkansas.  Dr. Collins is now explaining the judging process.
7:30 p.m.– Miss Arkansas Sloane Roberts is tap dancing now.  She performed this routine at Miss America.
7:28 p.m.– Onstage question is complete.
7:22 p.m.– We’ve heard from 14 of the contestants thus far.  Lots of great answers out to the onstage question.
7:13 p.m.– It’s time for the onstage question.  This phase accounts for 5% of the total score.
7:12 p.m.– Miss Tech 2012 Claire Hodgson and Miss Arkansas 2012 Sloane Roberts are taking the stage.
7:05 p.m.– We’re meeting all 21 Miss Tech contestants.
7:03 p.m.– Dr. Jim Collins is welcoming the audience to the 58th annual Miss Tech pageant.
7:01 p.m.– Q Street Jazz, an ensemble from the Arkansas Tech Department of Music, is performing to start the night.
7:00 p.m.– We’re underway at the 2013 Miss Tech Pageant.
6:55 p.m.–  The lights house lights are flickering, which means it won’t be long now until the competition starts.
6:45 p.m.– If you’re planning on coming to the Miss Tech pageant, now would be a good time to head this way.  The auditorium is nearly full.
6:37 p.m.–  Less than 30 minutes until the pageant starts.
6:24 p.m.– The auditorium is starting to fill up. Lots of folks are excited to meet the 2013 Miss Tech.
6:09 p.m.– Set up and ready to go! It’s less an hour until the 2013 Miss Tech Pageant gets underway.
