2:05 p.m. — Good afternoon from the DeSoto Civic Center. We will post updates from throughout the game as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns begin their chase of a second consecutive Gulf South Conference Tournament championship with an opening-round contest against the West Georgia Wolves.

2:29 p.m. — Ouachita Baptist defeated Valdosta State 79-74 in the first game of the day here at the GSC Tournament, so the winner of the Arkansas Tech-West Georgia game will face OBU in the semifinal round at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

2:31 p.m. — That OBU-VSU game ran a little long, so tip-off for the Golden Suns’ game is now set for approximately 2:56 p.m. Air time on KWKK 100.9 FM will be approximately 2:40 p.m.

2:55 p.m. — Starters for Arkansas Tech: Natalia Santos, Jenny Vining, Laura Beth Anderson, Shaquilah Davis and Jessica Weatherford.

2:56 p.m. — Starters for West Georgia: Shunice Hardy, Thomassian Wyatt, Monica Williams, Krystal Delph and Valerie Jones. Tip-off coming up.

3:07 p.m. — Arkansas Tech goes on a 9-0 run to take a 14-6 lead with 15:52 left until halftime. Jenny Vining with two early 3-pointers for the Suns. Tech is 4-of-4 from the field. Shaquilah Davis and Vining with six points each.

3:17 p.m. — Tech built its lead to 21-8 with 13:33 to go in the half, but eight straight UWG points have cut the Suns’ edge to 21-16 with 11:31 to go before the intermission.

3:24 p.m. — West Georgia continues to hang in behind good 3-point shooting. The Wolves have made 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Arkansas Tech leads 28-23 with 7:50 to go before halftime. Jenny Vining with nine points for the Suns, who are 10-of-17 (58 percent) from the field.

3:31 p.m. — The Wolves came all the way back to tie the score at 30-30, but the Suns have answered with a 7-2 spurt to claim a 37-32 advantage with 3:49 remaining in the half. Jenny Vining has 12 points and Shaquilah Davis has 10 points to lead Arkansas Tech. The Suns are shooting 61 percent from the field.

3:40 p.m. — Arkansas Tech closes the first half on a 16-4 run over the final 5:25 to take a 46-34 lead at halftime. The Suns are 17-of-27 from the field (63 percent). Jenny Vining is 5-of-7 from 3-point range and has 15 points for Arkansas Tech. Shaquilah Davis has 10 points. Shunice Hardy and Thomassian Wyatt have eight points apiece for the Wolves.

4:05 p.m. — Vining has hit her sixth 3-pointer of the game and Arkansas Tech leads 54-37 with 15:57 to go. Four fouls for UWG’s Shunice Hardy. The Suns hold a 27-19 rebounding edge.

4:16 p.m. — Back-to-back 3-pointers by Laura Beth Anderson and Katie Horsman have given the Suns a 63-43 lead with 10:43 to go.

4:29 p.m. — Arkansas Tech stretched its lead out to 69-44 with 9:37 left, but six straight points from UWG re-introduced an ounce of doubt. Jessica Weatherford restores order for the Suns with a 12-footer from the right baseline. Tech leads 71-50 with 6:59 left.

4:37 p.m. — The Golden Suns lead 73-54 with 3:36 to go. Jenny Vining has 20 points and Shaquilah Davis and Jessica Weatherford have 12 points apiece for Arkansas Tech. Weatherford also has 10 rebounds.

4:44 p.m. — The Golden Suns are going to the GSC Tournament semifinals. Tech wins 81-62. More details to come.
