Learn “Why We Laugh” Wednesday Night

The Arkansas Tech University Department of History and Political Science will host documentary producer, comedian, writer and actor Darryl Littleton for a screening of his critically-acclaimed film “Why We Laugh: Black Comedians on Black Comedy” on Wednesday, April 13, at the Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall.

The screening will begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission will be free and open to the public.

“Why We Laugh” was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival in 2009 and was the opening night film at the 2009 American Black Film Festival.

The film is based upon a book authored by Littleton entitled “Black Comedians on Black Comedy: How African-Americans Taught Us to Laugh.” The documentary features performances by and interviews with many of the most prominent African-American comedians in history, including Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor and Chris Rock.
