Learn How to #BeLessAwkward Nov. 12

Award-winning journalist and internationally-recognized speaker Antonio Neves will offer his #BeLessAwkward personal development seminar to students at Arkansas Tech University on Thursday, Nov. 12.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall. Admission will be free for those with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card.

The event is part of the Aspiring Leader track through the Arkansas Tech Office of Campus Life On Track program.

Neves (photographed) has served as a television correspondent for such networks as NBC, BET and Nickelodeon. According to his website, he has delivered keynotes at hundreds of universities and conferences, including Stanford University, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), University of Arizona, Big Omaha, NCAA Sports Forum, University of Arizona, the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants, Louisiana State University and Syracuse University.

#BeLessAwkward will teach students to use influence and persuasion to help themselves by helping others through effective storytelling.

“Students will better understand how they can immediately begin getting better results on campus through proactive communication,” reads a description of the event provided by the Arkansas Tech Office of Campus Life. “This includes how to develop a simple and straightforward message, how to build credibility and trust and how to motivate people to take action.”
