Leadership Russellville Teams Up with Tech

Arkansas Tech Athletics is partnering with the Leadership Russellville Class to raise awareness about fire safety during Tech’s home basketball games Thursday against Ouachita Baptist.

Each year the Leadership Russellville Class participates in a project to better the River Valley, and this year’s group is partnering with the Russellville Fire Department to promote fire safety.

Prior to and during the games, the Russellville Fire Department and Leadership Russellville will be on hand at Tucker Coliseum to visit with community members about fire safety and the importance of smoke alarms.

Several events are also planned for area youngsters.  From 5:30-7:00 p.m., the Russellville Fire Department will have a fire truck on display at Tucker Coliseum.

Additionally, Smokey the Bear will make an appearance during the games to teach youngsters about fire safety.

The women’s game tips off at 5:30 p.m., while the men’s game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum on the Tech campus.

The event is designed to promote fire safety awareness, as Arkansas currently ranks eighth in fire death rate per capita.
