Late Rally Lifts OBU Over Wonder Boys

www.arkansastechsports.com. Arkansas Tech’s loss on Saturday ended its 22-game winning streak, the longest in the history of Wonder Boys baseball. The score was tied 3-3 until OBU’s Jace Melby delivered an RBI single in the top of the ninth. Matt Sinclair followed with a two-run home run to give the Tigers a 6-3 lead. Tech’s Jay Johnson doubled and Sage Boehner walked in the bottom of the ninth to bring the potential tying run to the plate, but OBU closer Keegan Ghidotti was able to induce a fly out to right field by Chance Scamardo to end the game. Ghidotti collected his eighth save of 2014. Ouachita Baptist starting pitcher Davis Ward (10-3), GAC pitcher of the year in 2013 and 2014, limited the Wonder Boys to three runs, two of which were earned, over eight innings of work. He surrendered eight hits and struck out four. Arkansas Tech reliever Jake Bell (5-1) was tagged with the loss. Zac Johnson hit a solo home run and Boehner drove in a run for the Wonder Boys.]]>
