Landers to Speak at Arkansas Tech April 3

One of Arkansas’ most recognizable business leaders will offer the 2019 Arkansas Tech University College of Business Distinguished Speaker Series address on Wednesday, April 3.

Steve Landers Sr. will speak beginning at 11 a.m. in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall, 1605 Coliseum Drive in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.

Beginning with a job washing cars at a Little Rock dealership at the age of 14, Landers has invested his career in automobile sales.

He built a Chrysler dealership in Benton during the 1990s that became the world’s largest, selling more than 10,000 vehicles per year.

Landers went on to lead the United Auto Group (now Penske Automotive Group) south central region, purchase a Toyota dealership in Little Rock and ultimately become president of RJL McLarty Landers Automotive before retiring from that role in 2012.

Today, dealerships bearing his name and under his family’s control continue to sell automobiles in central Arkansas as part of the Luther Automotive Group.

Landers lives in Little Rock with his wife, Sandy. They are involved in charitable organizations such as the American Heart Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society.
