Lady Reddies Take Two From Golden Suns

Arkansas Tech succumbed to a Henderson State comeback in game one and a great Lady Reddie pitching performance in game two in Gulf South Conference softball at Delores Brumfield White Field in Arkadelphia on Saturday.

The Lady Reddies scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to key an 8-3 win over the Suns in game one.

Game two was all about HSU starting pitcher Britney Benedict. She limited the Suns to just one run on two hits over six innings as the Lady Reddies completed a doubleheader sweep with a 4-1 victory in the nightcap.

Henderson State (17-14 overall, 7-5 GSC) took 3-of-4 games from Arkansas Tech (18-16, 8-8) in their weekend GSC series.

The Golden Suns were scheduled to host Southeastern Oklahoma State for a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Tuesday, but that has been canceled.

The Suns will be idle until April 8-11, when they will participate in the Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament in Decatur, Ala.
