Lady Rangers Ride Away With Series Win

Friday Game One: Tech 2, NWOSU 1 Sydnee Clark tossed a three-hitter to lead Arkansas Tech to a 2-1 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State in the series opener on Friday. Clark (9-7) struck out four Lady Rangers over seven innings. NWOSU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Shyanne Nichols. Ashton Long’s RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Golden Suns brought Jalissa Gum in with the tying run. Ashley Keen followed with a single to center field that drove in Long with what proved to be the winning run. Friday Game Two: NWOSU 4, Tech 2 Shelby Anderson had two hits and Nichols had two RBIs as Northwestern Oklahoma State topped Arkansas Tech 4-2 in game two on Friday. NWOSU starting pitcher Kellie Mason (11-6) limited Arkansas Tech to two runs on two hits over five innings. She notched seven strikeouts. Anderson got the final five outs for her third save of the season. Shanna Davidson and Long both drove in a run for the Golden Suns. Saturday Game One: NWOSU 8, Tech 3 Northwestern Oklahoma State rapped out 15 base hits en route to an 8-3 win over Arkansas Tech on Saturday afternoon. Tyler Casada was 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs, while Jessika Sandoval was 2-for-5 with two solo home runs for the Lady Rangers. NWOSU’s Anderson (16-4) scattered six hits in her complete game victory in the circle. Whitney Robinson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Golden Suns. Saturday Game Two: NWOSU 4, Tech 3 Two walks and two errors gave rise to a Northwestern Oklahoma State rally and the Lady Rangers earned a 4-3 victory in the series finale on Saturday. The Lady Rangers scored two runs without the benefit of a base hit in the top of the seventh inning as they took the lead for good. Mason (12-6) retired Arkansas Tech in order in the bottom of the seventh to wrap up her complete-game win in the circle. Davidson had two hits for the Golden Suns.]]>
