Lady Muleriders Get Revenge Over Suns

Game One: SAU 4, Tech 2 Sarah Higginbotham, Darian Harris and Brittney Johnson had two base hits apiece to lead Southern Arkansas to a 4-2 victory in Saturday’s first game. Lady Mulerider staring pitcher Shelby Miller (7-6) struck out seven Golden Suns en route to a complete-game victory. She was charged with two runs on eight hits. Arkansas Tech starter Victoria Huie (6-7) allowed four runs, three of which were earned, on seven hits in six innings of work. Whitney Robinson went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Golden Suns. Tech’s Chelsea Reeves added two base hits. Game Two: SAU 4, Tech 2 Southern Arkansas turned aside a last-chance rally by Arkansas Tech to defeat the Golden Suns 4-2 in the nightcap on Saturday. Siarra Gomez drew a walk and Robinson delivered a single to bring the potential winning run to the plate for Tech in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Miller — pitching in a relief role for the Lady Muleriders — was able to get the final two outs of the game for her fifth save of the season. SAU starting pitcher Miranda Cuff (4-4) earned the game two victory by limiting Arkansas Tech to two runs on six hits over six innings. Golden Suns starter Sydnee Clark (6-6) surrendered four runs on seven hits while pitching all seven innings. Ashley Keen and Ashton Long paced the Tech offense with two hits apiece. Keen and Courtney Colunga both drove in one run for the Golden Suns.]]>
