Lady Bisons Take Two From Golden Suns

Game One: HU 4, Tech 3 Marley Edwards’ walk-off, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Harding Lady Bisons a 4-3 victory over Arkansas Tech in Tuesday’s first game. Edwards’ shot into left field brought Kimmy Hendricks home with the tying run and Heidi Abston in with the winning run as the Lady Bisons capped a three-run rally in the last of the seventh inning. The Golden Suns had taken a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning behind a sacrifice bunt for an RBI by Ashley Savage and a run-scoring single off the bat of Chelsea Reeves. Carolyn Clayton started the Harding comeback in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI ground out to second base, and Edwards completed the rally with her two-run double. Harding starting pitcher Amber Rollins (11-6) struck out nine batters in a complete-game victory. She was charged with three runs, two earned, on eight hits. Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Sydnee Clark (6-6) allowed four runs on 10 hits over six and two-thirds innings. She notched four strikeouts. Game Two: HU 4, Tech 3 Courtney Derrick was the game two hero for Harding. Reeves went 2-for-4 for the Golden Suns, while Savage, Ashley Keen and Shanna Davidson drove in one run apiece for Tech. Rollins (12-6) earned the win in the circle by pitching one scoreless inning of relief. Arkansas Tech reliever Carlie Caruthers (0-2) was the losing pitcher. Victoria Huie started in the circle for the Golden Suns and received no decision after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings.]]>
