Arkansas Tech University’s Zach Klockowski and Kyle Wilson were recognized by the Great American Conference on Monday, Feb. 20, for their contributions to the Wonder Boys’ three-game sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma State University last weekend.
Klockowski was named GAC baseball player of the week after he went 5-for-10 with three home runs, 10 runs batted in and five runs scored against the Bulldogs. During Friday’s 17-0 Tech win, the left-handed hitting senior from Tinley Park, Ill., became the first Wonder Boy since Colt Loehrs on March 27, 2010, to hit three home runs in a game.
Wilson earned GAC pitcher of the week. He started Friday’s series opener and held SWOSU scoreless on two hits over seven innings. A right-handed junior from Flagstaff, Ariz., Wilson notched 12 strikeouts.
The Wonder Boys (5-5 overall, 3-0 GAC) are scheduled to face Missouri Southern State University for a 2 p.m. non-conference game in Joplin, Mo., on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
