Kaitlyn McGuire was selected by the Arkansas Tech University Office of Student Leadership Development as the first ATU student leader of the month for the 2026-27 academic year.
A senior agriculture business major from Bono, McGuire is secretary of finance and administration for ATU Student Government Association. She is secretary for the ATU chapters of Sigma Alpha professional agriculture sorority and Collegiate Future Farmers of America.
“Since I wanted to come and get a business degree, especially in agriculture, I knew that Arkansas Tech had an amazing facility with the farm,” said McGuire. “I come from the Jonesboro area, and I didn’t want to stay at home. I wanted to branch out, so ATU was the best choice for me.”
Her campus involvement also includes membership in ATU Presidential Leadership Cabinet and as a community assistant for the agriculture living and learning community through the ATU Department of Residence Life.
McGuire said she defines a leader as someone who “takes initiative sometimes, but also takes a step back and watches other people take that role as well” and someone who listens to others.
She will graduate from ATU in December. Her future plans include pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree.
