Japanese Dance Troupe to Perform at ATU

Takarabune, a Japanese entertainment troupe that performs in the 400-year tradition of Awa Odori dance, will bring its talents to Arkansas Tech University on Monday, March 26.

The performance will begin at 6 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall, 1605 Coliseum Drive in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.

In addition to attending the performance, members of the ATU community can become active participants by serving as extras in a documentary film that Takarabune is producing during its ongoing U.S. tour.

Those wishing to appear in the film may report to the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 26, to begin a practice session. Participants will then perform their newly-learned dance moves on campus. Those serving as extras are encouraged to wear Arkansas Tech-themed apparel.

The Takarabune performance is an On Track event on the Global Focus track.
