International Students Attend Orientation

Some of the newest students at Arkansas Tech are learning more about the campus today.  New international students are attending an orientation session before summer classes begin.

During this morning’s session, Dr. John W. Watson, vice president for academic affairs, welcomed the students to the Arkansas Tech campus.

Watson encouraged the international students to get involved, and he challenged the students to share information about their culture.

He added, “In today’s global world, it’s important that our students have a better understanding of various cultures.  I hope you’ll allow students to learn about your culture, and I hope that you’ll also use this opportunity to learn about different cultures as well.”

As part of the orientation session, the students will cover topics such as immigration rules, academic expectations and student involvement opportunities.

Additionally, students will also be able to complete insurance paperwork, set up banking accounts and purchase any supplies they may need.
