International Education Week Set for Nov. 12-16

Arkansas Tech University will celebrate International Education Week Nov. 12-16.  As part of the week, the International and Multicultural Student Services Office will host a variety of events.

On Monday, Nov. 12, students will present a fashion show. Traditional clothing from around the world will be featured from noon to 1 p.m. in the Baswell Techionery.

On Tuesday, Nov. 13, “International Perspectives: Sports Around the World” is taking place.  The event is happening at noon in Room 242 of the Doc Bryan Student Services Building and will include a panel of international students to discuss their experiences of sports growing up. Topics will include common sports, sports as part of the education curriculum, how involved parents are in sports and professional athletes playing the sport.

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, students are invited to participate in a screening of the film Africa United.  The showing will take place in the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall at 7 p.m.  The screening is co-sponsored by the IMSSO and the Student Activities Board.

On Thursday, Nov. 15, there will be a 50 Minute Tour of Iran by student Mohammedreza Jalaeian.  The tour is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall.

On Friday, Nov. 16, the International Festival and Talent Expo is schedudled from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall.  Those wishing to take part in the expo should submit an application. The top performances in the expo will win cash prizes.

Additionally, the IMSSO is sponsoring a photo contest as part of the week’s festivities.  The theme for the contest is “Sports Around the World,” and it is open to all Tech students.  Read more about photo contest.
