IMSSO Offers Tax Help for International Students

International students at Arkansas Tech are getting help with filing taxes.  The Office of International and Multicultural Student Services is hosting tax sessions to help international students file taxes in the United States.

The next session is scheduled for 4 p.m. this afternoon in Tomlinson Room 4.   Patricia Cunningham in the Payroll Office at Arkansas Tech will be visiting with students about the requirements and deadlines to file taxes.

Amy Pennington, director of the Office of International and Multicultural Student Services, says all international students are required to file taxes in the United States.  She adds, “The tax system for international students is very complicated.  There are many different tax laws that impact how and when the students file.”

Pennington says international students will have the opportunity to file their taxes this year using special software designed specifically for international students.

“We were able to purchase a license for software that will make it easier for our students to file their taxes by ensuring they complete the proper forms,” adds Pennington.
