IMSSO Gives Back to the River Valley

International students had an opportunity to give back to the community last weekend with the start of the 2011 series of IMSSO Gives Back.

The International and Multicultural Student Services Office arranged for students to make a visit to the River Valley Battered Women’s Shelter to do them some well-needed favors.

The students were able to paint a few rooms for the shelter and help make guest rooms feel welcoming.

The “IMSSO Gives Back” program provides opportunities designed for international students to get involved in the community approximately once a month.

“The community service projects have been very popular, with more students participating each month,” Kristina Mariswamy said. She is a graduate assistant for the office who coordinates the community service events.

The International and Multicultural Student Services Office is dedicated to providing student support services to enhance the college experience of international and multicultural students.
