The annual Hoops for Heart 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will be next Thursday, April 14, in Tucker Coliseum.
The tournament will begin at 3:30 p.m. Teams can register prior to the event in Hull Room 100 or on the day of the tournament at Tucker Coliseum from 2-3 p.m. Class excuse forms will be provided to students who pre-register to compete.
Each team is allowed up to five players, and the cost to participate is $20 per team.
The 3-on-3 tournaments (males and females) will be double elimination. T-shirts will be awarded to the champions.
Additionally, co-ed mini games include 3-point contest, slam dunk contest with a 10-foot goal, and half court shot. These games each cost $2.
Door prizes will be given away throughout the event.
Hoops for Heart is a volunteer event that involves playing basketball to promote heart health. The event is hosted by the physical education organization and administration class. All proceeds from the tournament and the mini games will benefit the American Heart Association.
Last year, Arkansas Tech Hoops for Heart was recognized at the Arkansas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (ArkAHPERD) Conference in Little Rock this for organizing the most successful collegiate Hoops for Heart program in the state. Read more about this honor.
