Student groups are working hard this weekend building floats for the 2011 Homecoming Parade that will begin at 2 p.m. next Saturday in Downtown Russellville.
This year, the parade will feature more than 30 groups. Approximately 20 of the groups are in competition to win monetary prizes sponsored by the Student Government Association.
The Homecoming theme floats will be created around this year is “Building on Tradition, Ringing in the Future.”
The parade route will begin across from the Russellville Chamber of Commerce at 708 West Main Street, travel east on Main Street, take a left turn on Commerce Street and proceed to the Russellville Depot on West C Street.
Parade participants are asked to not throw candy from vehicles. Officials say it is fine if candy is distributed by people walking down the street as long as it is not thrown.
