Tech's Hodgson Wins Award at Miss Arkansas

Arkansas Tech University’s Claire Hodgson won the Miss Arkansas Executive Directors Association Alpha Overall Interview Award during the 2012 Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant in Hot Springs.

Hodgson (photographed), a sophomore psychology major from Russellville, was chosen as the best interview among the 25 first-time Miss Arkansas contestants.

Hodgson earned a spot in the Miss Arkansas Pageant by winning the 57th annual Miss Arkansas Tech University Scholarship Pageant on Feb. 24.

Daughter of Mario Hodgson and Cathy Baker, Hodgson won the CenturyLink Interview Award during the 2012 Miss Tech Pageant.

Hodgson had never competed in a pageant before her successful bid to become Miss Tech.

As winner of the Miss Tech pageant, Hodgson received a two-semester tuition scholarship at Arkansas Tech and more than $3,000 in gift certificates from area businesses.

Sloane Roberts of Rison was crowned Miss Arkansas 2012 on Saturday, July 14. She will represent the Natural State at the Miss America Pageant Jan. 8-12, 2013, in Las Vegas.

This year marked the 75th anniversary of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant. Contestants received more than $88,000 in scholarships during the 2012 Miss Arkansas finale at Summit Arena on Saturday night. A total of 47 young women from across the state competed in the pageant.
