Hawkes Leads Tech to Top-Four Finish

Arkansas Tech University’s Jordan Hawkes finished in a tie for fourth in the individual standings to lead the Wonder Boys golf team to a fourth-place showing in the team standings at the Las Vegas Desert Classic on Sunday and Monday.

Hawkes improved with each tour of par-72 Pauite Golf Club. He returned scores of 76 and 73 in the first two rounds before matching the low round of the tournament with a 5-under par 67 in the final round to finish with an even-par 54-hole total of 216.

The Wonder Boys had team scores of 302-293-288 for a 54-hole total of 883. The University of West Florida won the team title with a three-round score of 866.

The individual title went to West Florida’s Bryce Geraghty. He finished at 8-under 208.

Austin Smith (T-16th, 74-73-75-222), Dylan Lovell (T-21st, 78-71-76-225), Bryce Burke (T-30th, 80-78-70-228) and Julio Arguelles (T-33rd, 74-76-79-229) also represented Arkansas Tech in Las Vegas.

The Wonder Boys will host the Dave Falconer Classic March 6-8 at Chamberlyne Country Club in Danville.
