Hamrick's Big Night Lifts Golden Suns

Ashlynn Hamrick was nearly flawless in leading the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns to a come-from-behind victory in non-conference volleyball action against East Central University in Ada, Okla., on Monday.

Hamrick (photographed) recorded 14 kills against just two attack errors as the Golden Suns rallied to defeat the East Central Lady Tigers 20-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 15-11.

Arkansas Tech (4-1) was playing its fifth match in four days. The Suns opened their season over the weekend by posting a 3-1 record at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Classic in Denton, Texas.

Sarah Von Lienen added 11 kills and 11 blocks in the win at East Central. Laura Farney also contributed 11 kills, while Carly Florian notched 10 kills, Kera Dukic had 47 assists and Brennae Benda registered 20 digs.

The Golden Suns will return to action on Friday, Sept. 10, and Saturday, Sept. 11, in the Sharks Volleyball Classic at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
