Hammonds to Speak for Black History Month

Dr. MarTeze Hammonds, the first Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at Arkansas Tech University, will provide this year’s Black History Month presentation.

This year’s theme at Arkansas Tech is “Remembering the Past, Envisioning the Future.” The event will take place Thursday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. in SSCC 117.

Hammonds previously served as assistant dean of students for retention and academic engagement at the College of Wooster in Ohio. While there, he also fulfilled the duties of associate director for the Center for Diversity and Global Engagement and director for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.

A graduate of Murray State University, Hammonds went on to earn two Master of Science degrees from Murray State and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Arkansas.
