The Great American Conference identified Jalissa Gum of Arkansas Tech University as its first softball player of the week for the 2017 season on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Gum, a senior from Red Rock, Okla., hit .462 (6-for-13) with two home runs and eight runs batted in during the season-opening Southeastern Regional Invitational in Durant, Okla., on Friday and Saturday.
The nationally 11th-ranked Golden Suns (3-1) will return to action on Friday, Feb. 10, and Saturday, Feb. 11, at the UAM 8-State Classic in Bentonville.
