Arkansas Tech University’s Jalissa Gum was named Great American Conference softball pitcher of the week on Monday, April 3.
A right-handed senior from Red Rock, Okla., Gum was the winning pitcher in all four games during the Golden Suns’ sweep of East Central University at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville on Friday and Saturday.
Gum held the Tigers scoreless on three hits over 16 and two-thirds innings. She struck out 37 ECU batters and walked just three.
The Golden Suns (24-12 overall, 18-6 GAC) will host Harding University (33-1, 23-1) will play a doubleheader at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex beginning at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4. Radio station KARV 101.3 FM/610 AM and www.arkansastechsports.com will have live coverage.
The nationally sixth-ranked Lady Bisons will arrive in Russellville on a 25-game winning streak, the longest such streak in GAC softball history.
