Group Fitness Classes Begin September 6

The Arkansas Tech University Office of Campus Recreation is offering eight group fitness classes for students during the fall 2016 semester.

Kerry Shannon, coordinator of campus recreation at Arkansas Tech, said that all classes are instructed by individuals certified to teach their specific discipline.

Each class has a limited amount of participants. To sign up for the classes, go to IMLeagues.com and create an account or download the Recit Fitness app and create an account there.

Below are desciptions of all eight courses as provided by the Office of Campus Recreation:

15-15-15
This class incorporates 15 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training, 15 minutes of core training, and 15 minutes of pilates/stretching. The class is available to all Arkansas Tech University students of all fitness levels. This class will be at 7 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday from Sept. 7-Dec. 6 in Hull Physical Education Building room 111 (also called the dance studio; located adjacent to the double gym).

Zumba
This class is a total body workout that mixes low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie burning dance fitness party. It combines several elements of fitness — cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility — that all individuals can benefit from. Each class will be in Hull Building room 111. Classes will begin at 7 p.m. and will be every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from Sept.6-Dec. 6.

Circuit Fusion
This class is a circuit style workout that uses functional movements that are ideal for everyday activities and can prepare you for more intense workouts. This class will help strengthen muscles as well as increase endurance levels. This class will be at 8 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday from Sept. 7-Dec. 6 in Hull Building room 111.

20 Minute Sculpt
This class is a condensed fitness class for individuals who are pressed for time. This class will get your heart rate up while you work at high intensities with short segments of rest which helps create a better cardiovascular system for all participants. It is a challenging but rewarding workout program. This class will be at noon every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Sept. 6-Dec. 6 in Hull Building room 111.

Cardio Burn
This class allows individuals to challenge themselves with this strength and intervals class designed to keep your heart rate high while challenging all muscle groups with combination exercises and agility movements. The class will be at 8pm every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from Sept. 7-Dec. 6 in Hull Building room 111.

Yoga
This class works to develop the physical body with strength, stamina, and flexibility. It develops the mental body with awareness, concentration, and focus. Yoga enables individuals to completely relax while feeling strong and confident. Sunrise Yoga is at 6 a.m. on the Caraway Lawn (behind Caraway) every Tuesday and Thursday from Sept. 6-Oct. 13. The rain location is Hull Building room 111. Yoga is at 9 p.m. in Hull Building room 111 every Monday and Wednesday from Sept. 6-Dec. 6.

Bootcamp
This class is a high intensity workout that utilizes bodyweight as well as strength and plyometric exercises. The class will generally be held on the Caraway Lawn (behind Caraway) at 6 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The rain location is Hull Building room 111.

The Running Experience
This class allows all to come and experience the team work and support of group exercise through running. This group will support each other and encourage each other as they run through different areas of the campus and community. This class will meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. at Caraway Lawn.
