Greek Week Kicks Off Sunday

Fraternities and sororities will come together next week to face off in the annual Greek Week competition.

Sunday afternoon members of the Greek community will participate in a variety of wacky games and a flag football tournament.  Both events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at the intramural field.

On Monday, Greek members will compete in the annual Songfest event at Tucker Coliseum.  The coliseum doors will open at 8:30 p.m., and the competition is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

During the event, each Greek chapter will present a song, dance or step routine that will be judged. The cost to attend Songfest is $2 or a donation of four canned food items.  The money collected during Songfest will be donated to the philanthropy of the winning Greek group, while the canned items will be given to an area food pantry.

Fraternities and sororities at Tech will participate in an intramural basketball tournament, which is scheduled to take place Tuesday in the Hull Building Double Gym.

On Wednesday, the Greek members will raise awareness about Greek life by wearing their fraternity or sorority badge.

The Greek community will host the Greek god and goddess competition on Thursday evening.  The event will take place at 8 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall, and the admission to attend the event is a canned food item.

Throughout the week, fraternities and sororities will earn points during the various Greek Week activities, and the Greek organization with the most points will take home the Greek Week title.
