Grants Enhance Praxis Exam Preparation at ATU

Classroom Materials

Arkansas Tech University College of Education faculty members Krystal Shipp and Dr. Theresa Cullen have earned more than $8,000 in grants from the Arkansas Department of Education.

The grants will be utilized to assist ATU College of Education students in their preparation for Praxis tests.

One aspect of the grants provides funds to purchase study materials that ATU education students may check out and use in their exam preparation.

The other part of the grants creates an opportunity for ATU education students to develop a one-hour Praxis workshop for their peers. Each workshop presenter will receive $300 worth of classroom supplies for his or her future classroom. Workshops will be offered in March and April following selection of presenters by ATU College of Education faculty. Each workshop must include a handout for participants.

Deadline to apply to be a workshop presenter is Monday, Feb. 28.

The application form is available at https://bit.ly/atupraxis.

“The great thing about these grants is that it won’t only help our students now, but will create materials we can use into the future and have students practice their teaching skills and develop as teacher leaders,” said Cullen, who serves as department head and professor curriculum and instruction at ATU.
