Arkansas Tech University faculty member Charles Mebi has received a grant to further his research in the field of chemistry.
Mebi, assistant professor of chemistry, was awarded a $50,000 grant from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund.
The grant is awarded to faculty members who are in their first three years of a tenure-track position.
According to the American Chemical Society website, the Petroleum Research Fund is an endowed grant that “supports fundamental research directly related to petroleum or alternate energy at nonprofit institutions (generally colleges and universities) in the United States and other countries.”
Mebi says he will use the funds to further his research on the exploration of molecular designs for energy conversion.
Mebi joined the Arkansas Tech University faculty in 2009. Learn more about the Department of Chemistry at Arkansas Tech.
