Golden Suns Win Twice in Tennessee

Arkansas Tech University won 2-of-3 matches at the 2018 Holiday Inn Express Classic in Cleveland, Tenn., on Friday and Saturday.

The Golden Suns (3-4) will make their 2018 home debut and begin Great American Conference play by hosting Southern Arkansas University for a 6 p.m. match at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Admission will be free.

ATU 3, Shorter University 0

Arkansas Tech steamrolled Shorter University 25-13, 25-18, 25-12 on Friday morning.

The Golden Suns made 43 kills against 10 attack errors in 101 total attempts for a .327 hitting percentage.

Allie Anderson (11 kills), Amanda Milnick (28 assists and 13 digs) and Meredith Darnell (14 digs) were among Tech’s individual leaders.

ATU 3, Lee University 1

Double-doubles from Hunter Eshnaur and Milnick helped Arkansas Tech earn a 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20 victory over Lee University on Friday afternoon.

Eshnaur notched 14 kills and 19 digs, while Milnick finished with 30 assists and 18 digs.

Allie Anderson led the Golden Suns’ offensive attack with 16 kills. Darnell recorded 20 digs and Madison Grantham contributed 12 digs.

Palm Beach Atlantic 3, ATU 2

Nationally 11th-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic University used back-to-back blocks on the final two points of the match to edge Arkansas Tech 26-28, 25-18, 15-25, 25-22, 27-25 on Saturday.

Tymber Riley and Mackenzie Eford had 13 kills apiece for the Golden Suns. Anderson added 12 kills and Eshnaur made 10 kills. Milnick (46 assists, 14 digs) and Darnell (24 digs) were also among Tech’s statistical leaders.
