Golden Suns Win Ninth Straight Match

Arkansas Tech christened its new hardwood floor at Tucker Coliseum with a straight sets win over the Henderson State Lady Reddies in Great American Conference volleyball action on Thursday night.

The Golden Suns (9-1 overall, 2-0 GAC) blitzed Henderson State 25-11, 25-21, 25-17 in the first GAC athletics event ever contested on the Arkansas Tech campus.

Laura Farney and Sara Motsinger recorded 10 kills apiece for Tech. Farney added 14 digs.

Amber Cerrillos notched 33 assists and eight digs, while Brennae Benda made 13 digs.

Ty Lindberg led Henderson State (2-9, 0-2) with nine kills and nine digs.

The Golden Suns finished with a team hitting percentage of .246 compared to just .047 for the Lady Reddies.

Arkansas Tech has now won nine consecutive matches.

The Golden Suns will host Bacone College for a non-conference volleyball doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. No admission will be charged to Tucker Coliseum.
