Arkansas Tech opened defense of its Great American Conference volleyball championship with a four-set win over the University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms at Steelman Fieldhouse in Monticello on Tuesday.
The Golden Suns (7-3 overall, 1-0 GAC) received a match-high 18 kills from Sara Motsinger in a 25-23, 26-28, 25-22, 25-22 victory.
Carly Florian added 11 kills, while Amber Cerrillos had 46 assists and seven digs. Kaci Jackson (13 digs) and Morgan McKellar (10 digs) were Tech’s top defenders on the back row.
Amy Kleypas made 14 kills and 11 digs for Arkansas-Monticello (1-8, 0-1).
The Golden Suns will face Dallas Baptist in non-conference action at Dallas, Texas, on Friday, Sept. 14. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
