Golden Suns Topple SAU in Magnolia

Arkansas Tech University stopped Southern Arkansas University’s five-match winning streak and handed the Lady Muleriders their first home volleyball loss of the season on Tuesday night at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center in Magnolia.

The Golden Suns (19-7 overall, 7-1 Great American Conference) defeated SAU 25-18, 25-15, 24-26, 25-18 for their 10th win in their last 12 matches.

Amber Cerrillos had 35 assists and 10 digs for Arkansas Tech. Carly Florian made 14 kills and Brittany Ryan added 11 kills and three blocks.

Tech’s Taylor Brown (25 digs), Morgan McKellar (20 digs) and Kaci Jackson (13 digs) joined Cerrillos in double figures in digs.

Courtney Geesing recorded 15 kills and 12 digs for Southern Arkansas (16-5, 8-1).

The Golden Suns will host Northwestern Oklahoma State for a 7 p.m. GAC match at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Friday, Oct. 19. Admission will be free.
