Golden Suns Take Two From No. 19 Harding

Arkansas Tech University won both ends of a Great American Conference softball doubleheader against nationally 19th-ranked Harding University at the HU Softball Field in Searcy on Wednesday.

The Golden Suns (28-10 overall, 19-7 GAC) will host Southeastern Oklahoma State University (25-14, 19-7) for a four-game GAC series at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville on Saturday, April 7, and Sunday, April 8.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. Radio station KARV 101.3 FM/610 AM and www.arkansastechsports.com will provide live coverage.

Game One: Tech 3, HU 1

Megan Goodnight pitched a complete game to lead Arkansas Tech to a 3-1 victory over Harding in game one on Wednesday.

Goodnight (9-2) limited the Lady Bisons to one run on three hits over seven innings. Of the 21 outs she recorded, 15 came on ground outs.

Ashton Sangster had two runs batted in and Gaby Vasquez had one RBI for the Golden Suns.

Game Two: Tech 12, HU 3

A fast start propelled Arkansas Tech past Harding 12-3 in the nightcap of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

The Golden Suns scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never relinquished the lead.

Tech’s Janie Knowles went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Sydnie Henson also drove in three runs for the Suns. Goodnight, Sangster and Paige Mendoza added two RBIs apiece.

Goodnight (10-2) pitched the final three innings to collect her second pitching win of the day.
