Golden Suns Take Two From Gorillas

Game One: Tech 2, PSU 1 Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Victoria Huie scattered eight hits over seven innings to lead the Golden Suns to a 2-1 victory over Pittsburg State in the opener. Huie (3-0) induced 10 fly outs and 10 ground outs while limiting the Gorillas to one unearned run. Pitt State stranded 11 runners on base. Tech’s Ashley Savage tied the score 1-1 with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kambri Hill’s sacrifice fly to right field one inning later drove in Ashley Anderson with what proved to be the winning run. Game Two: Tech 13, PSU 5 A seven-run outburst in the bottom of the first inning propelled Arkansas Tech to a mercy-rule shortened 13-5 win over Pittsburg State in the nightcap. Shanna Davidson was 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs batted in for the Golden Suns, while Courtney Colunga and Hill drove in two runs apiece. Colunga had a game-high three base hits. Alex Edinger, Chelsea Reeves and Savage added one RBI apiece for Tech. Golden Suns starting pitcher Sydnee Clark (2-0) allowed five runs, three of which were earned, on seven hits over four and two-thirds innings. Mary Moran provided Tech with one and one-third innings of scoreless relief to wrap up the victory.]]>
