Arkansas Tech University completed a key two-match Great American Conference volleyball road trip to Oklahoma on Friday with a 25-21, 25-20, 17-25, 22-25, 15-9 victory over Southern Nazarene University in Bethany.
The Golden Suns (19-5 overall, 11-0 GAC) tightened their grip on first place in the GAC by knocking off the teams that were No. 2 (Oklahoma Baptist University) and No. 3 (Southern Nazarene) in the league standings entering the week.
Arkansas Tech never trailed in the fifth and decisive set on Friday. The Golden Suns responded to losses in the third and fourth sets by scoring the first five points of the fifth set on their way to victory.
Hunter Eshnaur made 16 kills, McCall Wilkins had a career-high 13 kills and Katie Huff notched 12 kills for Arkansas Tech on Friday.
Sarita Stegall collected 44 assists, Madison Nagel accumulated 21 digs and Kaci Jackson added 11 digs for the Suns.
Courtney Bowie made 17 kills in a losing effort for Southern Nazarene (11-13, 7-3).
Arkansas Tech will take a break from conference play by hosting Williams Baptist College (2 p.m.) and Bacone College (6 p.m.) on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Admission to Tucker Coliseum in Russellville will be free.
