Game One: Tech 9, SWOSU 0 Morgan Vaughan tossed a four-hit shutout to lead Arkansas Tech to a 9-0 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State in Friday’s first game. Vaughan (7-1) recorded six strikeouts. The game was stopped after six innings due to the mercy rule. Whitney Robinson and Jalissa Gum both hit a home run for the Golden Suns. Robinson was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in. Gum went 1-for-2 with three RBIs. Janie Knowles and Shanna Davidson added one RBI apiece. Game Two: Tech 3, SWOSU 2 Arkansas Tech built an early lead and then held on to defeat Southwestern Oklahoma State 3-2 in the nightcap on Friday. An RBI double by Gum, a sacrifice fly by Alicia Lowrey and an RBI single by Davidson gave the Golden Suns a 3-0 edge after two innings. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Ashley Flier stole home in the fourth inning and Adrienne Martinez delivered a solo home run in the sixth inning to pull the Bulldogs within 3-2. Arkansas Tech reliever Kelsie Barker stopped the comeback bid there, recording five consecutive outs to end the game and earn her fourth save of the season. Victoria Huie (8-3) was the winning pitcher. She allowed two runs on six hits over five and one-third innings.]]>
