Golden Suns Slip Two Spots to No. 7

Voters for the USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II women’s basketball top 25 poll moved the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns down two positions to No. 7 in this week’s rankings, which were released by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

The Golden Suns (23-2 overall, 10-2 Gulf South Conference) were 1-1 last week. Tech defeated Ouachita Baptist 92-72 in Russellville on Thursday, but Delta State topped the Suns 71-61 in Cleveland, Miss., on Saturday.

The result of the Lady Statesmen’s victory is that Tech and Delta State are tied for first place in the GSC West Division women’s basketball standings with two regular season games remaining.

The Lady Statesmen (21-2, 10-2), who moved up from No. 12 to No. 9 in this week’s poll, will visit Harding on Thursday and host Henderson State on Saturday.

Arkansas Tech will travel to Arkansas-Monticello for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Thursday and host Christian Brothers for a 4 p.m. game on Saturday.

Ticket offices and doors at Tucker Coliseum will open at 3 p.m. Saturday for the regular season-ending doubleheader between Tech and CBU.

Russellville radio station KWKK 100.9 FM and www.athletics.atu.edu will have live play-by-play coverage of Tech’s games.
