Golden Suns, RiverHawks Split

Amy Horne’s pitching and Molly Edwards’ hitting led the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns to a 7-1 victory in game two of a doubleheader with the Northeastern State RiverHawks at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville on Saturday.

Horne (1-0) pitched a complete game and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out six. Edwards was 3-for-3 with two runs batted in.

Shanda Jimeson also had two RBIs for the Golden Suns, while Mackenzie Powers and Jessica Fields drove in one run apiece.

The win allowed Arkansas Tech (7-5) to bounce back from a 4-3 loss in 11 innings to the RiverHawks (5-5) in game one of the doubleheader.

The Golden Suns will return to action March 4-6 in the Midwestern State Spring Classic at Wichita Falls, Texas.
